Afiq & Nas-9th of Feb

Yesterday was the surprise birthday celebration for my two beloved friends, Afiq and Nas. It was a success. I could see that both of them were quite touched and happy.

The planning and preparation were rather tedious due to the time constraints.

They know that Lei Sim would usually not join them for gathering or outing if I am not going. In order to make sure everything went smoothly, I actually told Lei Sim a few times what to say. It is a white lie! I was scared that she might give herself away when she said that because I could see through her almost easily if she were to tell any lies. She was supposed to say “Chu Er is sick so she is not turning up anymore.” As I was afraid that they might ask her the reason of her turning up since I did not join them so I told her to say “I have already promised everyone so I turn up.” You see, nice and perfect! AS predicted, a few of them would surely be late so I took my own sweet time to leave the house. I was not supposed to let Nas and Afiq know that I would turn up. Chin Leat excused himself to help me with the cake by telling them he wanted to go to the washroom. As planned, we went to a place where they could not see us to light the candles. I actually saw that they were caught by surprise when I appeared with the cake.

After the celebration, we went to Jurong East Entertainment Center to play at the arcade. Lei Sim and I only played the car race. Then, after that, she and I went to the ice-skating center. When we reached there, a man was trying to mend the ice by driving a big machine around. We could see that a competition was going to start. I am not too sure what the sport is called so let me call it ‘hockey on ice”. The two teams played were mainly from Singapore and USA. I thought that the competition was exciting and cool. Their ice-skating skills were great. The referee could even jump on the ice and everyone was skating so fast. I found it so difficult to walk on the ice when I tried ice-skating a few years back, let alone jump and run. I guess yesterday was one of the few times where I could not take my eyes off when watching a sport competition.
