That rude guy

I was listening to my MP3 when suddenly I heard a commotion going on which got my attention.

Initially, I thought the group of people who sat 2 tables away from me, knew each other. When I listened hard again, it was the middle-age man commenting the behaviour of the guy not older than 25, who sat beside him.

He used words like “irritating, disturbing” and his tone was angry, disturbed and harsh.

The commotion scared off the 2 other people who shared the same table.

At that moment, I really felt sorry for that young guy.

When it was finally quiet down, he made a call which got the attention of the middle-age man. He said “who are you trying to call? Trying to threaten me?”

He replied saying “nonsense”

At that moment, I seriously felt like walking to that middle-age guy and saying “enough is enough” and thought that since he dared to comment on that guy’s behavior with a rude tone, why should he be scared of the consequences?

When he returned to his seat, the middle-age guy started asking “who are you trying to call? Don’t you threaten me! You are at fault. I was doing my work and you are irritating me.”

I heard a faint reply saying he was calling his family or whoever and not trying to threaten him.

GOSH!

Understand why I have bad impression of some Singaporeans?

Seriously, I think he was so immature, insensitive and rude!

Yes, it was that guy’s fault for doing whatsoever thing which disturbed him but he did not need to say those words. A sinned guy is a human being too. He has a pride too.

He could simply say “could you please lower down the volume of your mp3 because I am doing my work?” and give a warm smile. And not keep ranting on and one and use some harsh words.
-_-“

This is just a classic example of how some Singaporeans behave in public. Sigh.

First training

Today, I had a fun day in the first part of the day which made me a sinful person.

I woke up at an unearthly hour today at 6.20a.m.for the first training – not really though- of Chingay Parade. I volunteer as a helper. I nearly could not wake up because I slept only after 1a.m.

It was held at RJC which is so far away from my house and my first time to Bishan - yes, I am a pathetic Singaporean - so I checked on the internet the estimated time taken to reach there. I think it is a little inaccurate because I reached there 5 minutes earlier than the expected time.

I met up with 4 other mentoring members and it made me feel that I was a mother chicken and they were the chicks because I am the oldest.

I seriously think that my sis and I have serious communication problem. I asked her the way to RJC from Bishan Control Station and in the end, it is wrong. I actually motioned to her which way I was supposed to get out and she nodded as a signal of right. In the end, 1 of them told me that it should be in the opposite direction. (LIM CHU ERN! >.<) The other time when I asked her the direction to Haagen Dazs HQ, the same thing happened too! I must learn to be smart the next time by walking the opposite direction that she has suggested. =x

Anyway, initially, I thought I was the oldest in my group but the other mentoring member whom I had not met before till then, is placed in my group. I am tired of being the oldest or rather the oldest girl. Blame on my birth date! But, I love being an Aquarian. =D

Talking about Aquarian, my 2nd new friend is an Aquarian too! =D We started talking and talking, I forgot how it led to talking about birthday. She said her birthday is approaching and I said me too and we stared at each other for a few seconds. The first thing she said was “oh my god. Oh my god. Does it start with a ‘2’?” I answered yes. She responded by saying “Oh my god” again. Ha Ha. I thought she was referring to month and not birth date. But, her birthday falls in this month which made me feel that I was exaggerating by saying it is approaching. =/

Like usual, we had to go through ice-breaking too and I learnt more games! =D But, I doubt that I will remember any. *shrug* = p

The most fun part was the scenario role-play which most likely going to take place (hopefully not)where they picked a few audiences from the crowd - the helpers who will be on duty on the actual days - and the committee acted as spectators. The “spectators” were really funny.

They stood on bench to jump and cheer. There was a part where when 1 of the crowd controllers asked him to sit down and watch, he said “come, come, come. Sit here and watch”. After he had sat down, he said “you can’t see anything right?” OBVIOUSLY, the crowd controller had to say can. And, that guy asked him to stand on the bench and watch to convince him that it was a better view.

Guess what? We are not supposed to touch the audience i.e. no body contact with them. BUT they are allowed to touch us. So, in 1 of the role plays, a crowd controller had no choice but to keep stepping backwards. -_-“ By then, they would stand together with the performers already. You have to be there to know what I mean. Almost all of us laughed madly. =D

After this Chingay, I will definitely have a worse impression of some Singaporeans. Anyway, I will be a traffic management volunteer where I will be handling traffic management along the road and at the dispersal points. I guess I will be quite near to the performers and audience. GOSH! Bless me!

Please have mercy on us and treat us nicely. =/

My New Year resolutions

I think this is the first time I have ever posted this on my blog. I decided that there are some things which are not entirely private. =D I would say that year 2007 has been a fruitful one for me.

Firstly, I do think that I have gone through a lot last year and tried out two new jobs too. =D
The various emotions which I had gone through were anger, disappointments, frustrations, happiness, joy and sadness. I really learned a lot new things last year but there are still so much more for me to learn. =/

I seriously do think that my English has improved except that I am still not confident! =D I promise to continue working on it especially my pronunciation until others feel that English is my first language. Okay. I am being too ambitious. =/

I have tried stepping out of my comfort zone which is taking the initiative to talk to strangers or anyone, looking right into others’ eyes when talking though I am still not very comfortable yet and face my problems(not all though but it is a good try).

I think I should try to spend more time with my friends especially my primary school friends but this is a promise which I really cannot keep because I feel that I am getting busier. =(
I think there were times where I was so simple-minded too. I should start learning my lessons especially my soft-hearted disease.

I want to be a better friend too, that is, stop being so sensitive! >.<

While doing reflection, I realised that I really do have friends who truly care for me and allow me to be myself. =) Really, really a big THANK YOU! I am so grateful.
They are (Not in order): Afiq, Jethro, Lei Sim, Ming En, Nas and sometimes Benjamin, Sebestian and Tian Xi too. =) I feel that there are more but I cannot remember any. =( Sorry, sorry.

There are some things which I hope to get in 2008. Not in order because I hope to get all. A big thank you to Jethro for buying an eye-liner for me and it reduces the number of items which I want to get. =D Actually, there were more but I bought them before 2007 ended. = p

1. Mascara
2. Eyes shadow – My sister promised/said that she can buy it for me as my birthday present which is soon. =D
3. Basket bag – My sister keeps saying it is not nice but I think it will match my outfit. =D The big problem is she and I have no idea where to buy. =( or any nice and unique bag (I am not referring to branded ones but not too common)!
4 Red nails polisher – Sexy red kind, you know? Perhaps, I could influence my mummy to buy so I need not pay for it. *evil grin* Secret ok? =D

If you ask me, I have lots and lots of things which I hope to try and do but…

I happily ended my 2007 and happily started my 2008. =D
