Great day?

I had a presentation today which was part of my CCA programme called mentor-to-mentor. There were students from different schools which were SAJC, TJC, TP, NUS and SP. Unfortunately; there were only Nas, Ben and me from SP because the rest of them had something on.

We were supposed to prepare to a 2-minute speech which I did. However, I did not have much time to do a proper preparation so I just read through a few times. I think my presentation was not too bad because I had to present in front of so many strangers, able to say out almost all the points and most importantly I did not laugh at all.=)

The topic which I presented was “People whom I met at my workplace”

The following paragraphs were what I had presented.

“Ever since my graduation from Secondary school, I started to work in the society. My first job was to work as a promoter. The nature of my job allowed me to interact with different types of people.

It was rather surprising to see how some people behaved which made me to have different perception of some people.

There are two categories of people which I am going to talk about.

The first one is Educated people V.S. less Educated people.

When I was still working as a promoter, I tried to promote my product to all types of people. I judged them by how they talked. Less educated people would at least smile at me or even shake their heads and gave me a warmth smile if they were not interested. However, most of the more educated people would just walk off without even looking at you. It happens even when I am working as a service crew at Haagen Dazs now. Less educated people would appreciate what you have done for them more compared to educated people. Most of the more educated people would make a fuss of every small matter and make things difficult for you instead of appreciating it.

The next one would be Singaporeans V.S. Foreigners

I realize that foreigners actually are more polite to service crews or people working in the service line compared to Singaporeans. This is further proven by a report which I read on Readers’ digest months ago. The courtesy of Singaporean is ranked bottom among 35 cities among the globe. As a Singaporean, I really feel quite disappointed about it.

From all these which I have seen, I learnt that wherever we go, we represent someone or something. It could be your country or status. It is important to respect everyone and be helpful and friendly to people around us so that this world will be a better place for living.”

After that, we sat at a place to eat and chat then we walked to Vivo City for window-shopping. It was quite fun which made me rather reluctant to work. Well, in the end, I did.
