Facts
I made a new friend from my work place yesterday. But, we talked more to each other today. He is a Malaysian and came here alone to work. For this, I really admire his bravery. I might not have the courage to do so. It is not easy to travel alone to a stranger country where you do not know anyone and communicating with its local people might be a little problem too. I think we should treat these people with respect, aren’t we?
During my 1 hour of break today, he accompanied me without being requested when he should have gone to another place to work. It was really so nice of him. =) We had a nice chat about life. From there, I realised how lucky we are to live in Singapore and to be a Singaporean. Yes, it is a fact that everything here is getting more expensive and we are living in a stressful environment. But, everything here is systematic and we respect and accept every race. Seriously, sometimes when I see this, I feel touched and happy especially when there are so many races living in this tiny dot on world map.
Everything reaches onto our hands so easily that some are not appreciative.
Some complain how awful the food taste and threw the rest of the food away. You know, some people on other parts on this Earth do not even have a choice to choose. Looking at those wastages, sometimes I do feel rather angry and sad. Since young, I am exposed to stories about these unfortunate people, so naturally I hardly waste any food unless I am really so full. Otherwise, no matter how awful the food taste or how full I am, I would still finish every single bit found on the plate. And also, when we complain about how unhygienic the hawker or some people handle the food but how unhygienic could it be compared to some parts of the world?
I guess when some people become more successful in life; they might have forgotten all these, forgot how to appreciate things around them and take things for granted. We are really so fortunate, aren’t we?
